About
Chris’s thought provoking, chaotically energized expressions on canvas, wood, and other mediums have impacted the Detroit Art Community for nearly two decades. His work in sculpture provides Detroit City with an array of installations, including the Millennium Bell civic sculpture located in Grand Circus Park.

Dedicated on December 31, 1999 to celebrate the new millennium, The ten ton bell is a striking addition to the east side of Grand Circus Park. The bell was designed by Chris Turner & Matt Blake.
Public Art Commissions
The Millennium Bell project. City of Detroit, Mi. Grand Circus park 1999/2000. Large scale public sculpture steel stainless steal and bronze. Total weight 20,000 pounds. Designed , fabricated and erected in collaboration with Matt Blake sculptor. Project budget $330,000. The project was awarded by The City of Detroit Cultural Affairs Department and was a national call to entries.
The High School for the fine, Performing and communication Arts, Detroit, MI. 2004/05. There three dimensional wall reliefs that span an 80 foot wall that serves as the main entrance to the school auditorium. Project budget $140,000.Project was awarded by the Sherry Washington gallery and Hamilton/Anderson architects Detroit,MI.

“Shrinking Cities” an international art project commissioned by the German federal culture foundation in cooperation with the gallery for contempory art Leipzig, Bauhaus foundation, Dessau and arch + magazine. International exhibit berlin, germany September 2004.
The New York International independent film and video festival. September and October 2005. Slims bike film documentary was shown at both shows in New York, New York and Los Angeles, calif.october 2005.
